If you are a surgical patient, we request that you DO NOT receive any vaccine within 2 weeks prior to your surgery and not for 2 weeks following your surgery. Including, but not limited to, the following:
At times, these vaccines can cause a reaction including fevers which could require us to cancel your surgery or, in the post-op period, be confused for a real infection.
Surgery and the Covid Vaccine
We fully support and encourage patients to get the COVID Vaccine. However, for elective surgery the following is especially important:

Please be aware if you are going to have surgery, we ask that you DO NOT receive the COVID vaccine or the COVID booster 2-4 weeks prior to and after your surgery. The vaccine itself does not in any way interfere with your surgery but rather if you develop any side effects like fatigue or a fever, these symptoms may require us to postpone your surgery or may interfere with your ability to focus on your recovery. Please read about the possible side effects that we have seen occur after getting the vaccine which usually resolve in 72 hours.

These side effects are expected and vary from person to person but are normal signs that your body is building protection and typically resolve in 72 hours after the vaccination.
