Following your surgery, you may need adaptive equipment to assist with your bathing and dressing. When you are in the hospital you will learn how to use these aids. However, not everyone will require this equipment!
1. Reacher
The “reacher” can be used to retrieve items from the floor and can help you to pull on your pants as well as remove your shoes and socks.
2. Long Shoe Horn
The long handle shoehorn will help give you a longer reach in order to help you put your shoes on.
3. Sock Aide
The sock aide is a flexible plastic device that stretches the sock open, and helps you pull the sock on if you are unable to bend forward far enough to reach your foot.
If you need these assistive devices, all three can be purchased as a kit. The cost for the 3-piece kit is $40 and someone from your family can stop into our office while you are in the hospital. Please note that insurance does not cover this expense.
Optional: Leg Lifter
In addition to the above items, a Leg Lifter device is available for purchase as an optional item. The cost for each leg lifter is $20.
